BALI RETREAT JUNE 2024

You are invited to treat yourself to a week of movement, nourishment, bliss, and discovery in magical Bali! 7 days and 6 nights of disconnection from the obligations of everyday life; immersion in lush Balinese beauty and culture, scrumptious, nourishing meals, yoga and meditation, sound baths, plenty of free time for relaxation, frequent massages (highly recommended in Bali!) and discovery of many of the scenic, cultural, and spiritual gems Bali has to offer.

Due to popular demand, two retreats are happening in June! The first: June 7-13, 2024. The second: June 19-25, 2024. They will follow the same schedule and both will take place in two beautiful locations, both away from the busier, more touristy areas of Bali. We’ll be spending the first 3 nights in Amed on Bali’s northeast coast, where we’ll get to enjoy the water element of the ocean in our backyard, dazzling coastal views and incredible snorkeling (and/or diving, as you wish.) We’ll spend the last 3 nights relishing the earth element in the stunning, serene, and unspoiled inland terrain of Sidemen (pronounced “Seedamin”) , where we’ll do some trekking through garden of Eden-like jungles to gorgeous waterfalls and majestic viewpoints. What’s Included

  • 7 days/6 nights accommodation

  • Delicious breakfast, lunch & dinner (vegetarian or non-vegetarian)

  • One complimentary massage

  • Morning meditation (optional - everything at this retreat is optional. :) Usually daily except when other early activities are scheduled)

  • Daily yoga (normally twice-daily; a variety of styles, including hatha, vinyasa, yin, yin yang, yoga nidra)

  • Snorkeling equipment

  • Balinese dance performance (this is spectacular; something to be seen at least once in a lifetime)

  • Sunrise boat ride (Amed has magnificent sunrises)

  • Assorted activities such as sound bath, cacao ceremony, kirtan, dynamic meditation, treks

  • Transportation from Amed to Sidemen and for transportation to all group activities in the schedule (treks, viewpoints and other scenic destinations.)

What’s Not Included

  • Flights to/from Bali and 30 day tourist visa (US$35)

  • Transportation to/from airport (but happy to assist you with booking; cost is about $40 per car from airport to Amed and $30 from Sidemen to airport)

  • Transportation to additional sites you may choose to visit

  • Optional extras like paddleboard/bicycle/scooter rental

  • Scuba diving

  • Additional massages and spa treatments

  • Balinese cooking class

  • Palm reading and/or healing session with an incredible Balinese woman

The daily schedule

Some days will begin with an optional meditation in the peaceful quiet of the early morning, followed by a guided yoga practice, then breakfast. After breakfast, you’ll enjoy free time until lunch, during which you might want to lounge by the pool, go for a walk down the beach, snorkel in the coral gardens in our backyard, sink into bliss with a Balinese massage or facial treatment, or rent a bicycle and explore Amed and its gorgeous ocean views.

Other days may begin with a sunrise boat ride, where we’ll admire the spectacular colors of Amed’s famous sunrises from the vantage point of a traditional fishing boat, or a hike to gorgeous waterfall setting, followed by breakfast, free time, and a yoga session just before lunch.

After a delicious lunch, there might be an optional group visit to another snorkel site, cooking class, a session learning to make traditional Balinese offerings, appointments with a Balinese healer, or a cacao ceremony, or more free time. Later in the afternoon/evening, we may take a drive to a dazzling sunset viewpoint or witness an unforgettable Balinese dance performance. Before or after dinner, there will be a second guided yoga practice. Depending on what the day’s schedule has involved, this may be a relaxing practice such as soothing yin or yoga nidra, or a hatha or vinyasa class.

After dinner, there will be more free time, and occasionally a restorative yoga practice, sound bath, dynamic meditation or kirtan. Afterwards, maybe you’ll want to float into bed and drift into a sound sleep right away, or perhaps enjoy a glass of wine under the stars.

This retreat is for you if…

  • You’re ready for a weeklong vacation that refreshes and re-energizes you, leaving you glowing and revitalized in mind, body and spirit.

  • You would love to discover both the physical beauty and unique cultural aspects of some of Bali’s most authentic, peaceful regions, without needing to spend time and energy on extensive research to plan your own trip—though of course, you can also arrive early or stay late and see more of Bali on your own! (If you have time I recommend this!)

  • You’re looking forward to a chance to take a break from daily life and enjoy some structure and daily yoga, but with plenty of free time to perhaps lounge by the pool with a book, doze in the shade while ocean breezes cool your skin, go for walks down the beach, enjoy a zen-like snorkel in the peaceful ocean or rent a bicycle to explore the town and its coastal views on your own.

  • You love the idea of visiting Bali and avoiding the island’s crowded, busy areas.

Where We’ll Be

Amed (3 nights):

We’ll be staying at a beautiful boutique hotel where our front yard is the ocean, where you can walk straight into the water and snorkel over vibrant fish and colorful coral, or just relax in a lounge chair by the pool with a good book. You can choose to stay in one of the 6 individual cottages in the enchanting garden close to the pool, or in a room with a private ensuite bathroom in an exquisite 3 bedroom villa, where each room faces the ocean. We’ll also see the ocean from the spacious 2nd floor yoga shala.

Sidemen (3 nights):

We’ll stay at a lovely traditional Balinese style hotel in an unforgettable location with stunning views of rice terraces and Sideman valley, nestled in a lush tropical garden. Accommodations are spacious deluxe rooms with spacious patios to enjoy the scenic views and fresh breezes. We’ll enjoy views of the valley from the large swimming pool and the sight of lush garden foliage from the the yoga shala.
